Services we offer

Technology is an integral part of our lives, that is a truism nowadays.

We rely on technology for everything from communication to travel, from managing our lives and homes to being entertained. Of course, this is the case whether or not we have a disability. However, for someone with a disability there may be other considerations, whether the technology is accessible and whether, once accessed, it can be useful.

So, a smartphone can make an excellent memory aid. But how do you access it if you can’t see very well, or at all? Amazon Echo is a great device for playing music, controlling the environment, accessing news. You just ask it questions, tell it to do something. But if you can’t speak- how to communicate with it?

At Steve Wiseman Associates we find ways of getting technology to work for those with a wide range of disabilities. It may be that mainstream tech, such as the Amazon Echo will work for you, or you may need something more bespoke. Either way we can advise and support you in learning to use it.

We frequently work alongside others who are supporting someone who is disabled, such as Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists and Physiotherapists and ensure that what we recommend fits in with what they recommend. Technology can be a vital part of rehabilitation as well as leisure.

Steve Wiseman Associates has provided a specialist IT service to people with disabilities since 2001.

  • A comprehensive assessment of IT needs

Independence through IT:

  • IT should, and can, be available and accessible to anyone, regardless of ability.
  • It is a tool which, properly used, can make the world more available and accessible to all of us, but especially to those with disabilities.
  • IT can provide a solution, whether to overcoming practical difficulties, as an aid to communication, social networking or as a leisure pursuit.
  • Drawing on our expertise in rehabilitation, we can ensure that the most appropriate- and therefore cost-effective, solutions are chosen.
